The staff and leadership here at West Isle Presbyterian Church is comprised of men and women who love, care, and pray for every single person in the church. If you have questions feel free to reach out and email our Pastor, Dr. Bob Bullock at BobBullock@westislepres.org.
Bob Bullock was raised a Methodist and ordained a Baptist preacher, but has spent much of his career serving Presbyterians. “Some of my friends call me a ‘Methobapterian,’” Bob says. “Together, I bring the strengths of each of these respective traditions: a passion for spirituality, the gift of evangelism, and faith in a personal God who calls us to Himself in His kind providence.”
Bullock is also a classically trained musician, able to play long, complex passages from memory, so it comes as no surprise that he generally preaches without notes, a pulpit, or a written sermon.
Dr. Bullock’s Bachelor of Arts is from Baylor University, his Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and his Doctor of Ministry is from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. His dissertation, The Encounter of God as Personal Spiritual Renewal, was recognized as “a gift to the Church." He is currently working on two books for publication, Developing a Christian Mind and A Survival Manual for Churches in Crises.
Bullock led churches around Texas and in the Atlanta area before coming to West Isle and Galveston Island. Along with helping Bob in ministry, his wife, Beth, is a personal trainer and a group fitness instructor. They have five children and three granddaughters scattered across Texas. Galveston is a great fit for a couple who enjoys history and counts dog walking, bird watching and swimming among their leisure time activities.
Angelo grew up in the Philippines, one of 11 siblings, and attended one of the first Presbyterian churches in that country. Music was always a big part of Angelo’s life; an older brother, Tony, a gifted baritone, encouraged him to sing in church and for entertainment at parties. Angelo received his formal training in music at San Francisco State University and has spent his life using his God-given gift to praise God and bring people to Christ.
In Galveston, Angelo met his wife, Crystal, and continues to play professionally locally. Angelo is blessed with 2 sons. His son Angelo is a missionary, with his family, and son Micah is a musician with pop star Justin Beiber.
Angelo believes his greatest success in life is coming to know Christ as his Lord and Savior. "Any success I have is not of my doing; it’s from God. You can’t help but be humble when you know it’s all about God.”
Darcie Lilley-Heagney is a Galveston native, childcare expert, and self-proclaimed kid-at-heart. Although raised in a Catholic household, at 16 she found her calling at a Baptist church in need of a nursery director. Since then, Darcie has received professional training in child evangelism at Word Power Church in League City, TX and has been able to serve many ministries in need.
Darcie received her Associates of Arts Degree at College of the Mainland and became a devoted Godmother to her two amazing nieces (now THREE nieces and a nephew!) shortly thereafter. Darcie helped raise up Logos Christian School in Dickinson, TX and until it's close, taught art weekly and chaperoned her Godkids' field trips.
Mrs. Lilley-Heagney recently married Jason Lilley-Heagney on a beach not too far from West Isle Presbyterian and considers herself blessed to find a partner who also believes that "all that you do, be done in Love." (1 Corinthians 16:14) Together, they work several jobs to support their four pets and their penchant for travel.
Darcie is currently a homeschooling nanny, a part-time drama teacher, and a child minister at West Isle Presbyterian. She strives to serve the Lord through serving others and through leading youth to build strong foundations in Christ.
Kira McDermott grew up in Seabrook, TX but now calls Galveston Island home, along with her husband, Brandon. After receiving her Bachelors of Science Degree from Texas State University, she began working at the National Marine Fisheries Service Galveston laboratory, where she currently serves as Outreach Coordinator.
Upon relocating to the Galveston area, Kira and Brandon visited several churches but were drawn to West Isle Presbyterian Church's warm spirit and inspiring messages. West Isle's very own, Dr. Bob, performed the McDermott's marriage ceremony in 2016. Kira is now West Isle's Communications Director and loves to share the wonderful things happening at West Isle with others.
